Take Our Word:

A beach wedding is such an amazing setting, and a smaller group makes for a much more intimate and special wedding celebration

The Story:

Katie and Ryan’s wedding was packed with details from the word go. International guests arrived in South Africa and received welcome packs stocked with delicious local goodies and treats from Melissa’s. On the wedding day, the couple ensured their guests had personalised flip flops to change into before heading onto the beach for the ceremony. Then, for later in the evening, as a show of gratitude from the couple, ladies received pashmina’s and the men cigars. Katie & Ryan also had a wishing tree, where guests could write kind and heart felt messages or words of wisdom on pieces of paper for the couple and then hang them onto the tree. The music was a fantastic combination of local talent, beginning with Abavuki Marimba Band and singing group for the ceremony. Katie chose to walk down the aisle to a traditional African wedding song. They then continued to entertain the guests through pre drinks with their chilled yet uplifting African melodies. For the reception, Shen Winberg and his trio played some great classics during dinner and took the party to the next level for the late night celebrations. What was really special was that one of their close friends and well known musician in the UK, Harry Brooks, wrote and sang the first dance song for Katie and Ryan. The seafood as always at the Strandkombuis was excellent and the night was ended with wishing lanterns being set off into the night sky, shortly after which Kate and Ryan had a traditional send off.
